The Role:
You will join our field engineering team, working primarily across the North West while supporting projects and customers throughout the UK when required. The role centres on the service, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of boosted cold water systems, building pipe work, surface water and wastewater systems.
Key Systems & Equipment
· Cold water booster systems and associated pump equipment
· Submersible sewage and groundwater pumping systems
· Motor and pump control systems, including basic electrical maintenance
· Pipework and valve systems, including ductile iron, copper, HDPE/MDPE and stainless steel
· Water treatment, rainwater harvesting and septic tank systems
Key Responsibilities Technical Delivery
· Service, maintain and repair pumping systems and associated equipment.
· Carry out safe electrical and mechanical isolation procedures.
· Undertake basic electrical maintenance and fault-finding within your level of competence.
· Diagnose mechanical and electro-mechanical faults and identify practical solutions.
· Attend emergency call-outs and resolve faults safely, professionally and efficiently.
Customer Service
· Deliver a high standard of service across construction, facilities management, commercial and industrial sites.
· Work confidently and independently while maintaining clear communication with customers and the REM Pumping team.
· Provide practical technical guidance and explain findings and recommended remedial works clearly.
Travel & Flexibility
· Work primarily across Manchester, Liverpool and the wider North West.
· Undertake occasional UK-wide travel and overnight stays when required.
· Participate in the on-call rota, typically one week in every three or four depending on staffing and holidays.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential
· Strong mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering experience. Basic Electrical Theory and ability to safely isolate is a pre-requisite to this role.
· Full UK driving licence.
· Right to work in the UK.
· A proactive, logical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving.
· Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer service.
· Willingness to participate in the on-call rota (normally one week in three or four).
· Applicants should be based within a reasonable commuting distance of our Heywood workshop (OL10 2EJ), Maximum 45 minutes away.
Desirable
· Experience with pumping systems, water treatment or related equipment.
· Electrical qualifications or a strong practical electrical understanding.
· Experience within wastewater, facilities maintenance, construction or a similar field-service environment.
Engineers from other sectors are encouraged to apply. If you have strong transferable mechanical or electro-mechanical skills, we can provide training on the specialist systems used within the role.
