About the Role
Eye Emporium Cheshunt is looking for an enthusiastic, confident and motivated Optical Assistant / Canvasser to join our team.
This is a varied role combining traditional Optical Assistant duties with a strong focus on canvassing, sales and community engagement.
You will play an important part in helping grow the practice by engaging with the local community, attracting new patients and promoting Eye Emporium’s services, while also providing excellent customer service within the practice.

Key Responsibilities
Optical Assistant Duties
- Welcome and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Help patients choose suitable frames and lenses based on their needs and preferences.
- Book eye test appointments and manage patient enquiries.
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
- Carry out administrative duties and maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide excellent customer service throughout the patient journey.
- Assist with frame displays, stock and general practice presentation.
Canvassing & Community Engagement
- Actively promote Eye Emporium and our eye care services within Cheshunt and the surrounding local community.
- Approach and engage with members of the public to generate new patient enquiries and appointments.
- Promote offers, eye examinations, glasses and other services available at the practice.
- Build relationships with local businesses, residents and community groups.
- Distribute promotional materials and participate in local marketing activities.
- Identify new opportunities to increase awareness of Eye Emporium.
- Work towards agreed canvassing, appointment and patient engagement targets.
Requirements
- Previous Optical Assistant experience is desirable but not essential.
- Confident approaching and speaking to members of the public.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sales, retail or customer service experience would be advantageous.
- Self-motivated, proactive and target-driven.
- Friendly, positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
