Salary: £16 - £22.50 Per Hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:30
Holiday: 20 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays

The Opportunity
An established and growing business is seeking an Electrical Improver to join its team based near Newmarket
This is a site based role focused on the assembly and testing of maintenance distribution equipment used across a variety of industries.
This position would suit someone with a basic electrical background who is looking to further develop their skills in installation, testing and fault finding within a specialist workshop and operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Setup
- Assist with the assembly and installation of distribution boards
- Help prepare and configure temporary power infrastructure for a range of applications.
- Install cable management and protection systems, including cable ramps and associated safety equipment.
Testing & Inspection
- Assist with electrical testing and inspection prior to equipment deployment.
- Support fault finding activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and site safety standards.
- Complete inspection, testing and equipment records accurately.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Repair and refurbish cables, connectors and distribution equipment under supervision where required.
- Service hire equipment before and after deployment.
- Inspect, test and prepare returned equipment for future hire.
- Maintain high standards of equipment reliability, cleanliness and presentation.
Health & Safety
- Follow safe systems of work and company procedures at all times.
- Ensure equipment meets required safety and compliance standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop and operational teams.
Requirements
Essential
- Level 2 or Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or working towards completion.
- Basic understanding of electrical testing and fault-finding.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
- Previous experience as an Electrical Improver, Electrical Mate or Junior Electrician.
