The School of Engineering is seeking a Research Fellow in Power Electronics to assist the Principal Investigator (Professor Layi Alatise) and the project collaborators in the successful execution of the research programme focused on power semiconductor devices and power electronics systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and assembling power electronics test systems for the power semiconductor devices. You will undertake experimental research, analyse technical data, and use emerging developments within the power electronics field to inform and shape future research activities.
A key aspect of the position will be disseminating research of findings through publication in leading international journals and other reputable outlets. You will also contribute to the preparation of research proposals and applications to external funding bodies, helping to support and expand the project's research agenda.
You will be expected to communicate complex information both orally and in writing on material of a specialist or highly technical nature.
This post is based at the University of Warwick. The successful candidate will be required to make occasional trips to collaborators/ specialist research facilities, so the willingness to travel occasionally is required. There will be opportunities for presenting work at international conferences.

About You
You will have a PhD or equivalent in Power Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
You will have good knowledge and practical experience in power electronics and power semiconductor device characterisation, and a strong record of publications and research outputs in experimental Power Electronics.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
You will also have demonstrable ability to work collaboratively and effectively with academic and administrative colleagues, both within and outside the University, to promote a collegial environment, while contributing to the life and community of the school through various duties, such as supporting offer holder days and outreach activities, which may occasionally require weekend work.
You will have good IT skills including Microsoft Office and proven ability to use IT to write technical research papers and presentations.

PhD Status
If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).
Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
