Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
- Creates a culture of openness and trust in reporting of Health and Safety matters
- Sets and manages targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance, steering towards success
- Leads / Reviews Accident / Incident Investigations. Reviews and appraises findings and leads / directs the appropriate action arising. Implements culture for change when required
- Appraises safety improvement options and leads action within SZC CWA and Supply Chain
- Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register
- Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team
- Must ensure appropriate consents/ permits and licenses are supported, obtained and complied with, from relevant regulatory bodies
- Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability.
- Identifies longer term strategic training to support individual development as required
- Good knowledge and experience of nuclear environments and the specific protocol/procedures of managing the construction works
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
- Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
- Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate
- Manages the implementation of systems and processes for Right First-Time approach
- Leads working groups focused on Improvement Areas
- Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
- Conducts Lessons learned investigations, shares learning and implements improvement plans
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress.
- Drives Lean initiatives to improve project efficiency
- Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
- Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s
- Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme
- Reports progress and reasons for difference within Project Review meetings
- Liaises with off-site functions for knowledge sharing and best practice
- Sets and aligns targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast
- Has ownership of weekly cost meetings and identification of improvement areas and allocation of appropriate actions to team members
- Reports progress and reasons for difference within CV meetings
Oversees the preparation of a cost plan and manages cost value

What are we looking for?
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Implements improvements to systems
- Takes ownership of tasks and communicates outcomes with clarity, direction and purpose
- Strong understanding of marine environment nuclear environment
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
- Able to frequently work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility and lead and manage others in this regard
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. Must be SMSTS qualified.
- Excellent team player and team leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision
- Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information.
- Strong communication skills with track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution
- Excellent role model for development of junior staff and demonstrates required behaviours to align to business, project and team objectives.
- Provision of assistance and expert knowledge to reinforce the objectives of the work winning teams.

- Ability to manage large teams and monitor progression of individuals
- Understands method statements and guides others in document production
- Understands and can guide others in the principles of Accident / Incident Investigation
- Good working knowledge of current H&S legislation
- Proficient in the application of Company Systems
- Innovative approach to enhancing safe systems of work
- Understanding of the Network Rail safe systems of work
- Experienced in resource allocation and up skilling
- Knowledge and experience of links between design teams and operational delivery
- Identifies and champions lessons learned to ensure continual improvement in the business
- Understands, implements, and champions the Organisational Business Management Systems and processes involved.
- Clear understanding of the requirements for handover
- Ability to support ONR audits as required
- Clear understanding of the ownership of handover and experience of the process
- Able to analyse and offer improvement on a fully resourced stage programme in the accepted format/software
- Understands sub-contractor KPI’s and has wide ranging experience of using them to manage performance
