Zen Educate is seeking an experienced, resilient and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our Behaviour Support Team. This is a demanding but rewarding role, suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting pupils to make positive behavioural choices.
The Role
Working closely with our Behaviour Lead, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of behaviour across the school. You will be responsible for designated zones of the school and will respond dynamically to behaviour incidents as they arise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and responding to Class Charts behaviour notifications in real time
- Supporting pupils removed from lessons due to behaviour concerns
- Managing mobile phone removals in line with school policy
- Proactively patrolling allocated zones to promote positive behaviour and calm transitions
- Building strong, professional relationships with pupils displaying challenging behaviour
- Supporting de-escalation and restorative conversations
- Liaising closely with teaching staff, the behaviour team and senior leaders
- This is an extremely active role – 10,000 steps a day is not unusual – and requires constant movement, vigilance and excellent communication.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour (essential)
- Has a proven ability to build positive, respectful relationships with hard-to-reach pupils
- Remains calm, consistent and authoritative under pressure
- Is highly organised and confident using behaviour management systems (e.g. Class Charts)
- Can work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit behaviour team
- Is resilient, flexible and committed to long-term consistency
- Team Teach training is highly desirable, though not essential for the right candidate.
