Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundsperson/Gardener to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor landscapes, ensuring the health and aesthetics of various green spaces. Duties
- Carry out landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to promote healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators, irrigation systems, and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for detailed gardening work, including trimming, edging, and planting.
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across different landscaped areas.
- Conduct routine inspections of gardens and green spaces to identify issues requiring attention or repair.
- Assist with construction or renovation projects related to landscaping or outdoor structures as needed.
- Perform general maintenance tasks to keep outdoor areas clean, safe, and well-organised.
- Support other team members in specialised horticultural activities or landscaping projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to operating equipment such as excavators and irrigation systems is advantageous.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for gardening and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of construction principles relevant to outdoor projects is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of horticultural practices, plant care, and environmental sustainability principles.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with physical stamina for manual labour tasks.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining landscapes and equipment.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in horticulture or landscape management are a plus but not essential. Pay: £12.41 per hour
