An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy Finance team for an experienced Costing Manager. We are seeking a professional, self motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. The Costing Accountant is responsible for the maintenance and audit of standard cost model and calculation for the business, ERP master data, stock monitoring financial data and supporting the business with detailed reliable data analytics that add value to business decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Management and development of the costing department and provision of support to the wider finance team where appropriate.
Maintain the company standard cost model including:
- Calculation and deployment of standard costs and machine rates in the ERP/MRP system
- Preparing financial simulations for investment appraisals demonstrating the impact on standard cost and overhead
- Regular review of model and identification of areas of improvement to improve accuracy, reliability and flexibility
Maintenance and audit of ERP/MRP Master Data:
- Parts Master (RM / BOC / WIP / FG / PT)
- Standard costing element data table
Audit of production data to identify variances and areas for improvement:
- Parts costing (quotation versus standard versus actual)
- Analysis of variances against standards
Business analytics:
- Support Investment and post-investment appraisal assessment
- Labour loading, planning and efficiency
- Stock levels and stock days
- Subcontractor profitability and volume
Local and Group reporting:
- Complete group reports to agreed deadlines:
- Monthly sales data submission
- Obsolete inventory and write off requests
- Stratified stock analysis and aging
- Any other group reports as required
- Support the finance team with preparation of monthly management accounts where appropriate
- Assist in the preparation of annual sales budgets and support the financial controller with the annual group budget file submission.
- Support the finance team during local and group audits including the annual external financial audit and JSOX audits.
- Embed Kaizen and continuous improvement philosophy into all activities to develop systems and processes to better enable business decisions and improved efficiency.
- Development of Business Intelligence tools and data models.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
- Part or full qualification of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g. CIMA / ACCA)
- Deep understanding of standard costing processes and principles
- Expert spreadsheet analysis skills
- Appreciation of data collection methodologies and clear understanding of extraction processes
- Ability to interpret and analyse data from a variety of sources
- Excellent communication and ability to clearly articulate financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience of Aurora System21 MRP system
- Experience with QlikView BI
