Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to support the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care within a General Practice setting for 20-27 hours per week. The Healthcare Assistant will undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties, assisting with patient treatment, health promotion, chronic disease monitoring, and ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment. The HCA may undertake the following duties following appropriate training and competency assessment:
- Undertake new patient health checks where necessary
- Measure and record:
- Blood pressure, Pulse, Temperature, Respiratory rate, , Oxygen saturations, Height and weight, BMI
- Perform venepuncture/phlebotomy
- Carry out NHS Health Checks
- Perform ECG recordings
- Undertake smoking cessation support and lifestyle advice
- Carry out simple wound care and dressings
- Remove sutures and clips
- Perform urinalysis and prepare specimens for laboratory collection
- Administer vaccinations and injections where appropriately trained and authorised
- Support chronic disease monitoring clinics (e.g. diabetes, asthma, hypertension)
- Chaperone clinicians during examinations where required
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records on the clinical system
Requirements
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when needed
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
- Driving licence preferred but not essential; willingness to learn driving if necessary
- Experience working in a care home or home care setting is desirable but not mandatory
- Compassionate attitude with a strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to follow care plans accurately and adapt to individual needs

Pay: £29,250.00-£33,150.00 per year
