Evitts Haulage is a long standing family run haulage business, that specialises in transporting steel products. Operating for more than 25 years, with long standing customers, we currently have 15 artic vehicles. We also have 2 sister companies, with over 80 vehicles in the total group fleet.
We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join us as lead transport planner & compliance operative in our busy West Bromwich based transport office. To take responsibility for the daily transport planning of our vehicles, carry out driver de-briefs, liaise with customers and complete any operational documentation as required.
Additional responsibilities will include monitoring drivers and fleet compliance, as well as liasing with service providers in relation to things including tracking, maintenance and inspections.
The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, have good IT skills and have previous experience in an operational role in a logistics/haulage business.

- Min 2 years experience with transport planning in a haulage environment
- Strong IT skills
- experienced in dealing directly with drivers
- competent with the understanding of drivers’ hours / working time regulations
- able to understand key transport costs
Key Accountabilities of the role:
- Planning – daily route planning of haulage work throughout the UK. This includes planning of drivers on nights away from home.
- Operational Review - identify areas of improvement, with a focus on maximising link and backloading.
- Customer - ensure our key contacts are serviced in an efficient and timely manner, no matter what they need.
- Drivers – communicate effectively, whilst managing and monitoring their plans.
- Compliance – ensure all business and legal requirements are monitored and adhered to
- Communication - be a key link with Senior Management and our sister companies.
- Finance – maintain and improve the margins currently being achieved from the transport planning

In return, we are able to offer a salary of between £37,000 - £42,000, based on experience, qualifications and skill.
