About Us:
At our Outstanding Nursery, we take pride in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children in the areas of Horwich, Bolton, Adlington, Blackrod, Westhoughton and the surrounding areas. Our spacious and well-resourced facility is highly regarded for its commitment to excellence. We cater for 110 nursery age and 50 after school age children a day.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, motivated and experienced head cook, qualified to Level 2 or 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.
Your main responsibility will be to prepare and cook daily meals, manage the day to day running of our nursery kitchen, along with 3 members of staff, and to ensure that hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation.
You are required to work 24/40 hours per week, (7am-4pm).
Key Responsibilities:
· Take complete control running the kitchen operations
· Cook meals from scratch using fresh ingredients.
· Manage 2/3 staffs daily workload.
· Accommodate individual dietary requirements of children.
· Ensure that all food is checked for proper temperatures and that these are recorded for each meal.
· Develop fresh, nutritious menus for the whole nursery and after school club.
· Place daily food orders online.
· Monitor food waste and adapt menus if needed.
· Maintain high standards of hygiene in food preparation, kitchen, and storage areas.
· Record fridge and freezer temperatures daily.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Experience of a nursery/school cook role would be desirable.
· Food Hygiene Certificate Level 3.
· Full Enhanced DBS check and 2 references.
