Employee Relations Partner – Human Resources
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Contract: 2+ Month Temporary Assignment
We're recruiting an Employee Relations Partner to support a Local Authority Human Resources team. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations expertise, confident in managing a varied caseload and providing professional HR advice to managers, employees, and stakeholders.
About the Role:
As an Employee Relations Partner, you'll provide specialist HR advice and support across a range of employee relations matters, ensuring cases are managed fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation and organisational policies. You'll work closely with managers, employees, trade unions, and internal teams to deliver effective HR solutions and support organisational objectives.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing a varied caseload of employee relations (ER) matters, including investigations, sickness absence, disciplinary cases, grievances, performance issues, redeployment, flexible working, and retirement processes
- Providing expert HR advice and guidance to managers, employees, and stakeholders on employment policies, procedures, and legislation
- Ensuring ER cases are handled fairly, consistently, and within agreed timescales
- Supporting HR processes including contract changes, terminations, honoraria, FOI/DSAR requests, and role amendments
- Delivering guidance and training on employee relations policies and best practice
- Building effective working relationships with internal teams, trade unions, and external partners
- Maintaining accurate case records and producing reports and analysis to support HR decision-making
- Conducting exit interviews and providing feedback on trends and findings
- Supporting job evaluation activities, including grading reviews and appeals
- Facilitating meetings, hearings, appeals, project discussions, and Employment Tribunal preparation
- Keeping up to date with employment legislation, HR developments, and professional best practice
- Supporting organisational objectives, equality initiatives, health and safety requirements, and continuous improvement activities
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone experienced, proactive, and confident in managing complex employee relations matters within a professional HR environment.
You'll ideally have:
- CIPD qualification or equivalent demonstrable HR experience
- Strong knowledge of employee relations practices and employment legislation
- Experience managing a varied ER caseload from start to completion
- Experience providing professional HR advice and support to managers and employees
- Understanding of applying HR policies and legislation within organisational settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with managers, employees, and trade union representatives
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Experience delivering high-quality customer service
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment (desirable)
