About Us
Refined Brands Group are digital pioneers of the ethical fashion movement, with a strong focus on natural, organic, and recycled materials, coupled with local design and manufacturing.
The group began with Celtic & Co. in 2021, with Turtle Doves, Kettlewell Colours, and Frugi joining in 2022.
Based a few miles from Newquay, we champion British manufacturing and ethical, sustainable, high-quality clothing. Our mission is to build a better fashion future, prioritising responsibility to the environment.
We have big ambitions for continued growth and pride ourselves on being a great place to work. This is an exciting opportunity to join an international, purpose-driven brand.
Role Overview
We are looking for a commercially sharp Head of Customer Insight & Analytics to give our brand directors the information, insight, and support they need to make better marketing and commercial decisions across the group’s four brands.
The brand directors own marketing direction and spend. Your role is to make sure those decisions are as well-informed as they can be — turning data into clear, decision-ready insight, surfacing the opportunities and risks early, and acting as a trusted, challenging partner to senior decision-makers. This is a senior, part-time / fractional role for an analytics thinker who can see the story in the numbers, influence at board level, and grow the group’s analytics capability.
You will lead a small team of two — a BI Developer & Data Engineer who owns the platform, and an analyst you will develop. You will not build the reporting environment yourself, but you will direct it: making sure it is pointed at the right questions and that its output genuinely changes what the business does. A key part of the role is growing the analyst from a report-writer and data-extractor into a true insight generator.

Key Responsibilities
- Turn data into actionable commercial insight across all four brands — surfacing the opportunities, risks, and trends the brand directors need to see to make good decisions.
- Set the insight agenda: define the questions that matter most to the brand directors and prioritise ruthlessly within a part-time remit.
- Equip brand directors with the insight to shape marketing and customer strategy — segmentation, personalisation, customer lifetime value, retention, and loyalty — backed by clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Use marketing-mix modelling and spend-efficiency analysis to help brand directors allocate budget well — providing interpretation, recommendations, and constructive challenge, while they own the spend decision.
- Inform catalogue marketing decisions with data-driven guidance on customer selection, contact frequency, and creative optimisation.
- Partner with commercial, marketing, e-commerce, and merchandising teams to uncover opportunities and support the financial plan.
- Act as a trusted decision-support partner to the brand directors — pressure-testing plans, challenging assumptions, and making sure the numbers behind a decision stack up.
- Present clear, decision-ready insight to the Group CEO, Brand Managing Directors, and board.
- Build a regular cadence of insight into the brand directors’ planning and budget reviews — so analysis routinely informs decisions rather than depending on ad-hoc requests.
- Lead and line-manage a small analytics team of two — a BI Developer & Data Engineer and an analyst — setting direction, priorities, and standards.
- Coach and develop the analyst — building analytical rigour, commercial thinking, and storytelling, and growing them from a report-writer and data-extractor into a genuine insight generator.
- Translate commercial problems and projects into clear technical direction — scoping the requirement and steering the BI Developer towards the right solution, data model, and approach, rather than leaving the ‘how’ to chance.
- Direct the BI Developer & Data Engineer so the data platform stays aligned to commercial priorities and delivers the insight the business needs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Senior customer insight or commercial analytics experience (fashion, retail, or e-commerce preferred).
- Proven ability to translate data into commercial recommendations that senior decision-makers act on — not just reporting.
- Marketing analytics expertise: Marketing Mix Modelling, CLV, segmentation, CRM, attribution, and customer-journey optimisation.
- Excellent storytelling and stakeholder management — with the credibility and gravitas to advise, influence, and constructively challenge brand directors and board-level decision-makers who own the direction and budget.
- People leadership — comfortable line-managing both technical (data engineering) and analytical staff, and developing analysts beyond report-writing.
- Strong technical grounding — confident with data structures, SQL, and Power BI / Fabric concepts (data models, measures, pipelines, refresh) to understand a problem, judge what is feasible, and specify the right solution for the developer to build (without building it yourself).
- Able to review and challenge technical work — quality-checking analysis and validating that a solution genuinely answers the business question.
- Strategic mindset with a genuine passion for using data to drive decisions.
- Comfortable operating part-time or fractionally — self-directed and focused on impact.
