About Struts Depot
Struts Depot is a specialist supplier of gas struts and related components used across industrial, automotive, and bespoke engineering applications. As demand continues to grow, we are looking for a technically minded Mechanical Engineer to help customers identify and specify the correct components for their applications.
Role Overview
This role is ideal for someone with a background in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and gaining hands-on experience in warehouse operations, including picking, packing and stock management.
You will play a key role in helping customers select the most suitable gas struts and related products for their requirements. Through comprehensive training, you will become a product specialist, capable of interpreting technical drawings, understanding customer applications, and providing expert advice via phone and email.
Initially, you will spend time learning our products and operational processes through hands-on experience within the warehouse. This will involve picking and packing orders, preparing shipping labels, managing stock, and supporting daily dispatch activities. This practical experience will provide valuable product knowledge and a strong understanding of our operations, enabling you to better support customers and recommend suitable solutions.
We are looking for someone who can assess customer requirements, review technical drawings and specifications, and confidently guide customers towards the most appropriate technical solution.
As your product knowledge and experience develop, your responsibilities will expand based on your performance, initiative, and contribution to the business. This role offers excellent opportunities for progression and the chance to become a key member of our operations and technical advisory team.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn the product range in detail through structured training and order fulfilment in the warehouse.
- Develop a strong technical understanding of gas struts and related components.
- Provide technical advice and support via phone and email, helping customers select the most suitable products for their applications.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to recommend appropriate solutions.
- Assist with troubleshooting and after-sales support.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and technical support.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies across the business.
- Take on additional responsibilities as your knowledge and experience grow.
- Managed key B2B accounts, overseeing high-volume orders, client relationships, and end-to-end order fulfilment.
Requirements:
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong interest in engineering products and technical problem-solving.
- Ability to confidently handle technical customer enquiries in a professional manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as WooCommerce and online marketplaces.
- Experience using inventory and order management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar software.
- Willingness to learn, develop, and take on new responsibilities.
- Comfortable working across different areas of a growing business.
Desirable
- Experience working with industrial products, engineering components, or technical sales.
- Knowledge of gas struts and their applications.
- Experience supporting e-commerce operations or online product management.
- Managed and developed key B2B client relationships, ensuring excellent customer service, smooth order fulfilment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Residence within or near the North London area.
