We are looking for a caring, reliable and confident Residential Childcare Worker to join a small, one-bed solo children’s home in Coventry.
To be considered, you must have at least one year of previous experience working as a Residential Childcare Worker within a children’s home.
This is a genuinely homely house supporting one young person with emotional and behavioural difficulties. It has been created to feel like a real home—warm, comfortable and relaxed, with a “slippers on” atmosphere.
You will always work alongside at least one other team member, with a minimum of two staff on shift at all times. The home is supported by a highly experienced leadership team who understand residential childcare and are available to offer guidance when needed.
The company is also close to opening a second, sister home. This will be a two-bed EBD home, and team members will work across both homes where needed to best support the individual needs of the young people. As the company grows, it is keen to develop its staff and support progression for those who want to build a long-term career in residential childcare.
The role
You will help provide a safe, stable and nurturing home for the young people. This means building positive relationships, maintaining clear and consistent boundaries and supporting them through everyday life as well as more difficult moments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building trusting and appropriate relationships with the young people
- Supporting daily routines, education, appointments and activities
- Encouraging independence and developing practical life skills
- Providing emotional support and responding calmly to challenging situations
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
- Safeguarding young people and reporting concerns appropriately
- Completing clear and accurate daily records, reports and handovers
- Supporting with cooking, cleaning and keeping each house welcoming and homely
- Working closely with colleagues, managers and other professionals
- Working flexibly across both sister homes according to the needs of the young people
- Taking part in overnight shifts as required by the rota

- Good written communication and record-keeping skills
- The flexibility to work across both homes when required
- Availability to work a 2-on, 4-off rota, including overnight shifts
- The existing right to work in the UK without sponsorship
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or an equivalent qualification, is desirable. Your starting hourly rate will reflect your qualifications and experience.
A full UK driving licence is preferred.
