Job purpose
To provide high-quality medical secretarial and administrative support to clinicians and the wider team, ensuring the efficient management of clinical correspondence, patient queries and administrative workflows. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy clinical environment.
Main duties and responsibilities
· Audio typing and preparation of clinic letters, reports and other clinical correspondence, including interpreting and summarising test results and physical examination findings
· Distributing, uploading and filing clinical correspondence and documents accurately
· Managing patient and administrative queries and liaising with clinicians regarding responses and follow-up actions
· Maintaining accurate electronic filing systems, templates and records
· Supporting management of the electronic article and information libraries
· Sourcing and circulating relevant medical and educational articles and updates
· Assisting with the organisation of clinical training meetings and events
· Maintaining spreadsheets and databases relating to articles, training and CPD activity
· Providing general administrative support to clinicians and the wider team
· Maintaining inter-professional relationships with colleagues at all levels
Person specification
Essential:
· Previous secretarial experience
· Excellent audio typing and written communication skills
· Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to work under pressure
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Flexible and adaptable approach with willingness to support a variety of tasks as required
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
· Experience within healthcare sector and knowledge of medical terminology
· Experience using electronic patient record systems
· Experience in dealing with patient queries and liaising professionally with patients/clients
· Minute-taking experience
Training and development
The successful candidate will receive support and training specific to the clinicians, workflows and systems used within the service.
Pay: £24,420.00-£29,000.00 per year
