Workroom Assistant
Full time role, 37.50 hours per week - Monday to Friday, with Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
This is a hands-on, varied role within our workroom and stock room. You will measure, cut and pack custom orders of net, voile and linen curtains, and be involved in the wider administration of the workroom and stock room as we process high volumes of customer orders. The role is physically active - you'll be on your feet for periods of your shift, and handling rolls of fabric as part of daily work. You will interact closely with team members across the business, and will need to manage your time and workload independently, coping with multiple priorities and the changing demands of the business.
Sewing and/or fabric experience is an advantage, particularly knowledge of industrial sewing machines and curtain making, though not essential for the right candidate.

- Confidence in cutting fabric accurately and quickly

- High attention to detail - you'll be reading detailed order specifications where small differences in measurements or instructions matter, and writing clear, legible notes for customer orders
- Basic computer knowledge
- A pleasant, helpful and optimistic attitude, with a willingness to build your skills and knowledge
- Able to connect with different types of people and adjust your approach accordingly
- Good awareness of health and safety policies and practice within the role
Key Tasks
- Processing and cutting customer orders from order sheets, preparing and packing orders ready for dispatch
- Allocating orders to relevant sections for booking in and dispatch
- Working to targets set by your supervisor
- Monitoring daily stock information and reporting to the buying team when stock is low or of concern, assisting with stock queries as they arise
- Supporting the order department and customer services department with customer order queries
- Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, ensuring floor areas are swept, clean and free of clutter, and exits are never blocked
- Keeping all areas stocked with packaging, labels and other packing consumables, liaising with the buying team when stocks run low
- Participating in stock counts when scheduled
- Completing other ad-hoc tasks as requested by your supervisor to support the business
