This is a full-time, one-year Junior Clinical Fellow Float Doctor post in Psychiatry with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, based in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark. The role involves working across different psychiatry services, such as inpatient, crisis, community, rehabilitation, and other specialist teams, depending on service needs, while also joining the on-call rota. It offers broad clinical experience alongside protected time for professional development, including opportunities in quality improvement, research, teaching, and other non-clinical psychiatry-related work.
Thee main duties are to manage inpatients or the team caseload and the day-to-day workload of the service, attend ward rounds, team meetings and CPA meetings, carry out risk assessments and develop risk management and care plans, monitor patients’ physical health including examinations and investigations, liaise with GPs and other internal and external professionals, attend external patient meetings when needed, make safeguarding referrals, and maintain accurate clinical records including reports, letters, discharge summaries, and electronic notes. The role also includes taking part in audit, research, quality improvement, service development, teaching, team meetings, and reflective practice.
