Dance Teacher (Ballet & Tap)
Overview
Mainstream Theatre Arts, established in 1981, is a leading dance, performing arts school, and theatre company for children and young people. Based within the Arts Department at Denton Community Academy, Denton, Tameside (M34 3NG), we are seeking a passionate and qualified Dance Teacher to join our team.
The successful candidate will hold NATD teaching qualifications or ISTD (Associate, DDE, or equivalent) and have a minimum of three years' experience preparing students for Ballet and Tap examinations.
This Freelance part time permanent position involves teaching students aged 3 to 18 years and requires availability for a minimum 5 hours every Saturday during term time ( 40 weeks per year). Additional paid opportunities may be available for experienced choreographers contributing to our full-scale theatre productions.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Ballet and Tap lessons for students of varying ages and abilities.
Prepare and enter students for NATD examinations.
Monitor, assess, and support student progress.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and a love of dance.
Communicate effectively with management and parents regarding student development and welfare.
Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and share best practice.
Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Recognised teaching qualification with NATD, or other dance association.
Proven experience teaching dance and preparing students for examinations.
Minimum of three years' successful examination entry experience in Ballet and Tap.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage young people.
Commitment to high standards of teaching and student development.
Desirable Qualifications
Degree or Master's qualification in Dance or a related field.
Choreography experience for theatrical performances.
