A warm and supportive primary school in Longsight is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ECT / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher looking to gain further classroom experience or an experienced HLTA who is passionate about supporting pupils and delivering high-quality learning.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to support teaching and learning across the primary age range. The role may involve leading lessons, covering classes, supporting interventions, and providing targeted support to pupils to help them achieve their full potential.
About the Role
You will support the delivery of engaging and effective lessons, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel encouraged and motivated. The role will involve working across KS1 and KS2, depending on experience and school requirements, with opportunities to take responsibility for whole-class teaching and pupil progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned lessons and learning activities across KS1 and KS2
- Support class teachers with high-quality teaching and learning
- Lead whole-class sessions and cover classes when required
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups of pupils
- Support pupils with additional needs, working closely with the SENCO and support staff
- Assist with assessing and monitoring pupil progress
- Create a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Follow school policies and maintain high professional standards
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), is an Early Career Teacher (ECT), or has HLTA experience
- Has experience working within a UK primary school setting
- Has strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
- Is confident leading lessons and managing classroom behaviour
- Is passionate, flexible, and committed to supporting pupil development
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience teaching or supporting pupils across KS1 or KS2
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN
- Experience delivering interventions or small group work
- Strong subject knowledge in core curriculum areas
