The Role
As a Pre-Sales/Pre-Construction Design Lead within the presales and preconstruction department, you will be responsible for managing, leading and contributing to, allocated opportunities throughout the bid process and pre-construction phase.

Leading team members as well as contributing to the scoping, design, costing and bid proposal production for Smart building solutions that meet and exceed our clients' business requirements.
Following on from the presales phase and contract award you will lead and contribute to the pre-construction phase providing technical design and commercial input of the Smart Building Design & Build projects, ensuring compliance with our clients' requirements and a smooth hand-over to day two support teams.
This role includes all aspects of pre-sales, from the initial enquiry stage to the award as well as post award pre-construction activities and would suit candidates with experience in both designing, estimating and tendering smart building solutions.
Possessing strong analytical, design, commercial skills and with a keen interest in technology, you will contribute to the technical design of smart building projects within the enterprise, hospitality, residential and data centre segments, ensuring compliance to our clients' expectations.
Working collaboratively with teams across the business, this role has significant scope for personal development and progression and will give considerable exposure to the varied technologies and systems that we operate, opening a variety of routes for future career progression.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Lead and manage opportunities through the full bid and pre-construction process

Produce high-quality technical and commercial proposals

Take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to project award and handover

Collaborate with internal teams including sales, operations, delivery, and procurement

Attend client meetings, site surveys, and presentations

Deliver clear technical and commercial presentations

Prepare and manage supporting documentation for bids and designs
-
Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Ensure smooth handover of successful projects to delivery teams
Design & Costing

Develop cost models including materials, labour, and services

Design smart building solutions in line with client requirements and industry standards

Support post-award design during the pre-construction phase
Leadership
-
Lead and support team members across projects

Allocate tasks, set goals, and track progress

Provide mentoring, training, and guidance
-
Promote collaboration and resolve issues within the team
Skills & Experience
-
Experience in pre-sales, bid management, or pre-construction design
-
Strong understanding of smart building technologies (e.g. cabling, networking, security, AV, IoT)

Experience designing multi-technology solutions within a construction environment
-
Ability to produce and analyse costing models and proposals

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of tender processes
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
-
Proficient in MS Office and general IT systems

Qualifications
Essential
-
Minimum five A*-C (4-9) GCSE's or equivalent, including Maths and English.

Valid DBS Check.

Accreditations, certification or memberships with recognised manufacturers and/or specific training.
Desirable
-
Educated to degree level (or equivalent).

Accreditations in recognised manufacturers and/or memberships of other relevant trade bodies within the Smart Buildings industry.

Understanding of WiredScore and SmartScore certification process.
-
Awareness of Building Information Modelling & CAD solutions.
-
APMP Foundation Certification.
