PJB Accident Repairs Limited is a busy bodyshop, with a British Kitemark for vehicle damage repairs, based in Witton. We are looking for an experienced, professional administrator to join our busy team.
Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and organised Bodyshop / Workshop Controller to oversee the daily operations of our busy accident repair workshop. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing workflow, coordinating technicians, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity, and ensuring vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently, and on time.
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with excellent communication skills, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and control the daily workflow of the bodyshop to maximise productivity and efficiency.
- Allocate repair work to technicians based on skills, experience, and workshop capacity.
- Monitor repair progress to ensure agreed deadlines and quality standards are achieved.
- Liaise with estimators, customer service teams, insurers, suppliers, and customers to provide updates and resolve issues.
- Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer methods, health and safety regulations, and company quality standards.
- Conduct quality control inspections before vehicles are returned to customers.
- Manage workshop performance, labour efficiency, and productivity targets.
- Order and monitor parts availability to minimise delays.
- Support, motivate, and develop workshop staff through effective leadership and coaching.
- Maintain accurate workshop records and management systems.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop performance and customer satisfaction.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience as a Bodyshop Controller, Workshop Controller, or similar supervisory role within an accident repair centre.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair processes and industry standards.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple repair jobs simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Good IT skills and experience using bodyshop management systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- MUST KNOW HOW TO USE AUTOFLOW
- Experience working with insurance and manufacturer repair programmes.
- Knowledge of manufacturer repair methods and compliance standards.
- Experience with lean workshop processes and performance improvement.
