We seek a motivated Research Fellow to contribute to estimating the future impacts of climate change on migration and health under different climate scenarios and Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs); and estimate the contribution of anthropogenic climate change to observed and projected extreme climate events and their associated health and migration outcomes. The post-holder will be part of the EMERGE study (Equity in Migration and Environmental research group), funded by the Wellcome Trust and conducted in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team at Fiocruz in Brazil. They will be expected to contribute to the development and application of climate modelling and detection and attribution to investigate the impacts of climate change on migration and health in Brazil.
The post-holder will be expected to have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in Climate Science, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline. A strong quantitative background, relevant experience in climate model simulations and future climate scenarios, knowledge of climate change detection and attribution methods and relevant experience with scientific academic writing. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE, and fixed-term until 31 July 2028. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range of £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this, there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
