Overview
We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Self Employed Handyman to undertake a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work on diverse projects, ensuring clients' properties are maintained to the highest standards.
Duties
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building structures.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to complete tasks accurately.
- Perform welding and fabrication work as required for structural repairs or custom installations.
- Troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation equipment.
- Maintain equipment and tools to ensure safety and efficiency during operations.
- Supervise or assist with specialised projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards and client specifications.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding project scope, progress, and completion.
- Lead small teams or oversee subcontractors when necessary, demonstrating leadership and organisational skills.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health & safety regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical work, mechanical repairs, welding, or general maintenance.
- Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues quickly and efficiently.
- Previous supervising or leadership experience in similar roles is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills in English; able to explain technical information clearly to clients.
- Customer service orientation with a professional attitude towards clients’ needs.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple projects independently as a self-employed professional.
- Right to work in the UK
