Growing Places is looking to recruit a passionate and highly motivated Nursery Manager at our new site Growing Places @ The Manor
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Manager to lead a passionate team. The role would suit someone with vision and excellent leadership skills. You will lead, motivate, inspire and manage the team to ensure the highest standards of care and education for the children are offered. You will also support the professional development of the team, helping them to be the best they can be.
Responsibilities of the Nursery Manager:
- Have a flexible approach to working in the setting (e.g. covering opening and closing of the setting, daily hours, room requirements, etc) to ensure the operational needs of the setting and all safeguarding requirements are met.
- Be proactive in research and committed to improving own knowledge and sharing it with others to improve practice across the company, which reflects and enhances the Growing Places ethos and culture.
- Keep up to date with new legislation/initiatives in early years and researching best practice to share with all team members.
- Take responsibility for your own continuous professional development (including researching/ training/ coaching/workshops/setting-based training/mentoring).
- Ensure that all training is completed in a timely manner.
Staff Responsibilities:
Lead on all aspects of team members’ staff development, including performance management, and provide effective motivation and support of the team within the setting.
Parent and community responsibilities:
Build relationships and strong communication links within the local community, including shared site links, to promote a shared vision to ensure consistency of care for all families. Encourage parent participation and understanding of their child’s learning in a sensitive and professional manner.
Children's education & development responsibilities:
Create a well-planned environment with open‑ended resources that encourage curiosity and investigation, making children’s learning visible. To monitor and coordinate reflective practice, including observation, assessment and emergent planning processes.
Administration responsibilities:
Ensure efficient administration of the nursery, including effective financial and operational controls (e.g. billing, chasing debtors, reviewing occupancy levels and staff costs).
*Regularly report to the CEO / Head of nurseries, as required (incl: minutes from all meetings held with staff, health & safety matters, monthly reflection information, children’s development issues, staff issues, other concerns).
Health & safety responsibilities:
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping and hygiene in the nursery. Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation in accordance with Company policies / procedures.
Safeguarding responsibilities:
Act as the designated safeguarding lead, ensuring all safeguarding practices and procedures are followed.
Nursery Manager Person specification
Must:
- Minimum L3 Childcare qualification
- At least 2 years experience of working in early years with some supervisory experience, including professional development of staff and maintaining the highest standards of care and welfare.
- Have strong organisational & management skills.
- Be trustworthy and able to motivate others, creating a positive, supportive culture of kindness and understanding while reaching out to the whole community and making children’s learning visible and valued.
- Be passionate about developing the Growing Places approach to children and adults learning and able to demonstrate their understanding of this approach.
