Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair of our facilities and equipment, ensuring smooth operations across various departments. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong technical background and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with senior technicians and supervisors to uphold safety standards and operational efficiency.
Core Duties – but not exhaustive to:
· Responsible for the maintenance all of the machinery, conveyor belts (training given) with the support of the maintenance managers.
· Maintain and adhere to the service schedule for machinery in line with manufactures guidelines and our maintenance management system.
· Responsible for repair or breakdowns on site.
· Order and keep an accurate itinerary of spare parts ordered and in stock.
· Carry out a daily check on all equipment prior to shift starting and throughout the shift.
· Create a stock itinerary of all tools kept on site with a signing in and out of high value items through our maintenance management system.
· Highlight any issues to the Head of Maintenance or Site Ops Manager.
· Ensure that there is sufficient stock of supplies kept on site and an accurate record kept.
· Report any misuse of the machinery of any kind to the Head of Maintenance & Health & Safety Manager.
· Ensure that the working areas are kept tidy and free of loose material reducing the risk of slips, trips & falls/ hazards at all times.
· Ensure any H & S concerns are reported to Head of Maintenance or H & S Manager.
· Ensure that maintenance visitors are wearing the appropriate PPE including footwear and have signed in at reception.
· Ensure there is a full handover to the night or day shift as per site specific templates.
Skills Required:
· Knowledge of optical sorters, ballistic separators and conveyor belts would be an advantage
· Health and Safety knowledge would be desirable
· A high sense of urgency in troubleshooting issues to rectify plant issues.
· Ability to use initiative under pressure.
· Ability to remain proactive throughout the shift highlighting/ escalating issues where necessary.
· Industry experience would be an advantage.
· Can do and positive attitude.
· Be able to work individually as well as part of a team.
· Always remain professional with all members of staff and visitors.
