As a Principal Structural Engineer at BakerHicks, you'll play a leading role in delivering complex engineering projects across sectors including power, defence, life sciences and the public sector. You'll work within multi-disciplinary project teams, collaborating with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while maintaining a strong focus on safety, innovation, commercial performance and client satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the delivery of structural and civil engineering design across projects of varying size and complexity
- Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and change control
- Acting as a technical authority on structural and civil engineering design
- Carrying out technical reviews and providing guidance to project teams
- Preparing tenders, fee estimates and technical proposals
- Supporting bidding activities and contributing to successful work-winning opportunities
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships to identify future project opportunities
- Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the growth of the Civil & Structural team in Scotland
- Monitoring project performance and reporting to senior leadership
- Supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable and innovative engineering solutions
- Mentoring, coaching and developing junior engineers
- Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes
- Supporting the continued growth and capability of the Civil & Structural team
What we're looking for
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
- Significant post-chartership experience within a consultancy, design or engineering environment
- Proven experience leading projects and managing engineering teams
- Strong understanding of current civil and structural design codes, standards and best practice
- Experience delivering projects within sectors such as power, defence, life sciences, public sector or major infrastructure environments
- Experience contributing to bid submissions, tender preparation and client development activities
- Strong commercial awareness, including budget management and change control
- Experience working within integrated multi-disciplinary design teams
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Current SC clearance or the ability to obtain clearance
- SER Certified advantageous
