Overview
We are looking for experienced Groundworkers / Cable Installation Operatives to support the installation of fibre optic telecommunications cables within a railway environment, alongside the track.
Operatives will be responsible for assisting with the safe installation, positioning and protection of fibre optic cable infrastructure, including associated groundworks, cable routes, ducting and containment.
Monday to Friday as required Engineering Hours (Nights) with additional weekend working available.
Responsibilities
- Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is essential.
Previous experience working within a railway environment is required.
Familiarity with rail working procedures, site rules and railway safety practices.
Experience with groundworks, cable installation, ducting, trenching or similar infrastructure works.
Ability to work safely adjacent to live railway lines and operational railway infrastructure.
Understanding of safe systems of work, PPE requirements, exclusion zones and site access arrangements.
Able to follow RAMS, toolbox talks and instructions from the Site Supervisor / Person in Charge.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with a strong focus on safety.
Requirements
- Previous experience installing fibre optic or telecoms cabling.
Rail infrastructure or civils experience.
Experience using hand tools and basic groundworking equipment.
Important: Candidates must hold the appropriate current PTS certification and be competent to work in the relevant railway environment.
Pay: £145.00 per day
