Overview
We are seeking a dedicated part-time Chef to join our cafe team to work a minimum of three days per week including some weekend work. Opportunity to also work at events.
The ideal candidate will already have solid experience of producing breakfast, brunch and lunch style dishes from a cafe menu and be able to bake scones, cakes, make quiches, tarts, salads, toasties, sandwiches and also propose menu ideas. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The successful applicant will have previous experience in food production, menu ideas and strong teamwork skills and must be able to work independently with responsibility for setting up and clearing down the kitchen at the beginning and end of each shift.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Supervise KP during weekend shifts, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations
- Manage food production processes, maintaining consistency and presentation excellence
- Oversee food safety practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction
- Monitor inventory levels, advise on stock ordering, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in line with hygiene standards
- Lead by example in fostering a positive team environment and promoting professional development among staff
- Car or transport essential due to location
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a hospitality or restaurant setting
- Supervising experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities in a culinary environment
- Strong background in food safety protocols and adherence to health regulations
- Previous experience in food production, restaurant service, or catering is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and customer service excellence is preferred
