Community Sports Coach (Programmes)
Job Overview
We're looking for an passionate Community Sports Coach to join our growing team. This is a genuinely varied role you'll deliver high-quality coaching in schools, at the club and out in the community, while working closely with the Head of Foundation to grow our programmes and build lasting relationships with schools, community groups and local partners.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Support
- Support the Head of Foundation in the planning, delivery and ongoing development of School and Community Based Programmes.
- Contribute to monthly KPI reporting and the monitoring of programme engagement and impact.
- Assist with the administration and coordination required to run programmes effectively, including liaising with schools, partners and casual coaches.
Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relationships
- Grow engagement and participation in Community Programmes, including Rugratz Rugby, Walking Rugby, Rugby and Multi-Sport Camps and the Rugby Pathway Programme.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organisations, community groups, councils and other key stakeholders to widen access and create new participation pathways.
- Support sponsored and partnership-based community programmes, helping to ensure sponsors and partners receive strong engagement and visibility.
Coaching Delivery
- Deliver high-quality rugby and multi-sport coaching sessions in schools, at the club and within the wider community.
- Coach and lead on sports camps during school holidays.
- Deliver before, during and after-school provision, including support for the Rugby Reading Champions and Mentoring and Rugby programmes.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with the Head of Foundation to plan, evaluate and continuously improve programme delivery.
- Work flexibly between desk-based/administrative tasks supporting programme growth and active, on-site coaching delivery, reflecting the hybrid nature of the role.
- Take part in regular CPD courses and training to ensure the quality of delivery.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- England Rugby Coaching Award (or sports coaching L2 equivalent).
- Previous experience delivering coaching in schools and community settings.
- Confidence coaching participants from diverse backgrounds, ages and abilities.
- Experience or strong interest in building relationships with organisations and stakeholders to grow community engagement.
- A positive, adaptable approach and the ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends and across hybrid working patterns.
- Ability to travel independently across Preston and surrounding delivery locations.
Desirable
- Experience planning and delivering multi-sport activities.
- Knowledge of effective marketing and communication to support programme growth.
- Experience mentoring junior coaches, volunteers or apprentices.
- Safeguarding qualifications above the minimum requirements (e.g., Designated Safeguarding Lead training).
- Familiarity with using digital platforms and social media to engage participants and promote programmes.
- Experience developing partnerships with schools, clubs or community organisations to drive participation.
- First Aid Certificate.
