The role of the Pastoral Care Team is to address the pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of residents, families, and colleagues across the Trust.
Pastoral Care Coordinators nurture a sense of community within each of our sites. They are also active members of wider, local, multi-faith communities and advocates of St Monica Trust.
Exercising a broad ministry for people of all faiths and none, Pastoral Care Coordinators deliver acts of worship and provide comfort and support when times are challenging, as well as creating opportunities to celebrate life in all its fullness through festivals and other special occasions.
Key responsibilities include 'bringing church' to those who can no longer access their faith community in the wider community by leading Christian acts of service each week, offering pastoral care to residents of all faiths and none, and being a champion within the Circle of Care for Spiritual support across the village. The post holder is an integral member of the pastoral care team who work closely together to support residents in later life in the ways that are important for them, and alongside our colleagues upholding the Trust's vision and values.
Summary responsibilities and outcomes
- Establish meaningful relationships with residents in Somerville and John Wills house at Westbury Fields, to understand & respond to an individuals’ pastoral, spiritual and religious needs.
- Form and maintain strong, positive and trusting relationships with colleagues across teams and departments.
- Lead and facilitate regular acts of worship in the retirement village and care home, as is appropriate to the diverse needs of residents.
- Create opportunities for non-faith based purposeful and meaningful engagement with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Act as a source of expertise and support, as appropriate, for end of life wishes, funerals, thanksgiving services and bereavement.
Ensuring administration & records are up to date and shared as appropriate for operational, safeguarding, regulatory and legislative purposes.
