Ian Mosey Ltd is a well-established family-run farming business operating across multiple enterprises. We finish pigs for the UK pork industry, manufacture animal feed for our own livestock and third-party customers, and manage a mixed arable and sheep farm.
We are looking for a motivated and practical General Farm Worker to join Ian Mosey (Livestock) Ltd for a summer placement. This is a varied, hands-on role based near Hovingham, working across the livestock operation and our on-site workshop.
This opportunity is ideal for a recent college leaver, apprentice graduate, or anyone looking to build a career in agriculture. Full training will be provided to help you build your skills and confidence.
This role has the potential to lead to a permanent position at the end of the placement, with opportunities for long-term progression within the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of our team, you will gain experience across multiple areas of the business, including:
- Assisting with fabrication, maintenance, and repair of livestock equipment in our workshop
- On the pig rearing operation based in and around our site, you will assist with feeding, bedding and general care of pigs ensuring welfare standards are maintained to the highest level.
- You will support our team of livestock hauliers and field staff with sorting, loading and unloading pigs on farms.

- A positive, hands-on attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a friendly approach
- The ability to follow instructions and procedures carefully
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role is physically demanding
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience working with livestock

Contract & Hours
- Full-time, temporary contract (3-months)
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Overtime opportunities available
- Weekend availability
