Job Title: Welfare Team Member
Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, TR4 9NH
Hours: 42.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.00am – 4.30pm
Salary: £28,200.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role
As a Welfare Team Member, you will play a key role in promoting a calm, safe and supportive school environment. You will take the lead on student RRP plans, using data effectively to identify patterns, reduce incidents and strengthen proactive strategies across the school. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to whole-school training on risk reduction and reporting, ensuring a consistent and compliant approach aligned with Risk Reduction Network (RRN) guidance.
You will coordinate the work of the welfare team, ensuring resources are used effectively to support pupils and staff. The role includes analysing and sharing key data with senior leaders, the Headteacher and Governors, and modelling high-quality, trauma-informed and appropriate interventions. You will support behaviour, welfare and access to learning for pupils, while also guiding staff in best practice and contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of school policies.
Essential requirements:
- CPI trained
- Experience working with a wide range of pupils
- TIS training (or similar) or strong working knowledge
- Safeguarding Level 2
- Strong written English and numeracy skills
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
- Understanding of the causes of behavioural needs
- Ability to support and implement effective strategies for pupils with SEMH needs
- Experience working within an education setting
- Full UK driving licence

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
This opportunity is in Truro which is within commutable distance of Redruth, St Austell and surrounding areas.
