Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a 1 in 4 weekend rota and participation in an on-call rota; Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday to Sunday 08:00 - 16:00
Salary: £30,866 - £36,135 plus 15% shift allowance for weekend rota participation

Working within a secure prison environment, you'll play a vital role in ensuring essential electrical systems remain safe, compliant and operational, helping to create a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly experienced team providing mission-critical services that have a direct impact on the day-to-day operation of a secure establishment. Deliver planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance is consistently achieved.

Diagnose faults, repair equipment and carry out electrical minor works to maintain operational resilience across the prison estate.

Complete electrical testing, inspections and certification in accordance with BS7671 regulations.

Ensure all electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational, supporting a secure environment for staff and residents.

Work collaboratively with Facilities Managers, Authorised Persons and wider engineering teams to maintain critical infrastructure.

Follow all Health & Safety, security and tool control procedures within a secure custodial environment.

A proactive and safety-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Good working knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and fault-finding on electrical systems.

Typical Level 2 Electrical qualification (Essential).

BS7671 18th Edition qualification, or 17th Edition with a willingness to upskill (Essential).

Experience working independently, managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (Desirable).

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work within a secure prison environment and must be able to obtain and maintain the relevant security clearance. Successful candidates will be subject to vetting and pre-employment screening requirements before commencing employment which include Standard DBS, Enhanced level 2 prison clearance and Counter Terrorism Check.
