Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our team on an interim basis within the public sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analysing complex data sets, supporting project management activities, and facilitating the development of innovative solutions to meet organisational objectives. Duties
- Analyse and interpret large datasets using tools such as SQL, R, Python, Power BI, and Tableau to support decision-making processes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, visualisations, and reports that communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Support the design and optimisation of databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other relational database systems.
- Assist in the development of business process models and documentation using Visio or similar tools.
- Contribute to project management activities aligned with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvements within public sector operations.
- Support database design efforts including schema development and optimisation using VBA, Bash (Unix shell), and other scripting languages.
- Ensure compliance with organisational standards and best practices throughout all phases of project execution.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the public sector or similar environment.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R, Python, SQL (including SQL Server), and Oracle databases.
- Demonstrable knowledge of project management methodologies and SDLC processes.
- Experience in database design, optimisation, and scripting languages including VBA and Bash (Unix shell).
- Familiarity with business analysis techniques, requirements gathering, process modelling, and documentation standards.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Prior experience working with Visio or equivalent diagramming tools is desirable.
