Job Title: Caravan & Motorhome Sales Compound Assistant

About the Role
Edward James Caravans is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and proactive self-employed individual to join our team. This is a hands-on, varied role working across our caravan and motorhome sales compound, with a mix of physical work, customer interaction, and general operational support. We are a family run business in the heart of Somerset We have just over 10 staff we're looking to expand this is a very good place to work it's friendly small tight knit community where we provide excellent customer service and excellent secondhand caravans and motorhomes. It is a pleasure to work here. You meet lots of nice people here. Lots of good stories and get to make lots of dreams come true with selling them caravans and motorhomes.
No two days are the same — you’ll play a key role in keeping the business running smoothly, ensuring caravans and motorhomes are presented to a high standard, and supporting both customers and the wider team.
We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a team-first attitude. This is not a role for someone who says “that’s not my job” — everyone mucks in here.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the caravan and motorhome sales compound: keeping it clean, organised, and presentable at all times
- Washing, preparing, and presenting caravans and motorhomes for sale
- Assisting with moving caravans and motorhomes safely around the compound
- Taking photographs and helping to advertise stock online
- Supporting basic diagnostics and identifying issues
- Assisting with ordering parts and general stock coordination
- Preparing starter packs and getting units ready for customers
- Interacting with customers in a friendly and helpful manner when required
- Carrying out caravan and motorhome deliveries and collections as required
- Providing general support across the business wherever needed
Working Arrangement
- Self-employed position
- Monday to Friday as standard working days
- Optional weekend work available
- Flexibility required depending on workload and deliveries/collections
What We’re Looking For
- Strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Practical mindset with good problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills and confidence speaking to customers
- Organised and able to manage a variety of tasks
- Basic mechanical or technical knowledge (preferred but not essential)
- Full UK driving licence essential (towing experience highly beneficial)

THIS IS AN OUTSIDE BASED JOB - IT IS NOT AN OFFICE JOB
There is a possibility of a career path to management here, it is not easy or short but exemplary employees will be looked at for promotions with time as we expand in years to come
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 48.0 per week
