Position: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Standard Day Shifts (with local overtime opportunities)
Pay: Hourly rate based on experience
About the Role
At Sayers Road Tankers Engineering Ltd, we build high-specification road tankers and trailers for the milk, waste, and other industries. When a client collects a finished tanker, the first thing they see isn't just the fabrication—it's the flawless finish.
We are looking for a dependable, self-motivated, and conscientious member to join our team. Learning the ropes alongside an experienced colleague in our covered bay, you will play a crucial role in preparing, testing, and presenting brand-new road tankers prior to delivery.
If you take pride in doing a job properly, possess strong practical common sense, and thrive in a hands-on workshop environment, this role offers stability, variety, and the opportunity to expand your skillset.
Key Responsibilities
- Tank Finishing & Washing: Jet-washing, cleaning, and detailing brand-new completed tankers to exceptional presentation standards.
- Weld Pickling: Applying chemical treatments to stainless steel welds and components to restore a clean, bright, and professional finish.
- Hydraulic Pressure Testing: Assisting with setup and monitoring of hydrostatic pressure tests on manufactured vessels to verify structural integrity.
- COSHH & Safety Compliance: Strictly following chemical handling guidelines, wearing correct PPE, and maintaining a high standard of health and safety.
- Yard & Site Support: Assisting with general site upkeep, yard duties, loading/unloading deliveries, and forklift operations (training provided where needed).
What We Are Looking For
- Reliable & Conscientious: Excellent attendance, punctuality, and a proactive, "get-it-done" attitude.
- Comfortable at Height & in Confined Spaces: Willingness to work inside tanker vessels and inspect top-deck fittings safely using protective access equipment.
- Resilient Environmentally: Comfortable working outdoors in a covered bay year-round.
- Eye for Quality: High attention to detail—recognising that presentation is the final signature of our build quality.
- Practical Mindset: Previous experience in industrial cleaning, vehicle detailing, mechanical prep, or chemical handling is an advantage, but a solid work ethic and eagerness to learn matter most.
Why Join Us?
- Job Security & Stability: Permanent role with an established, industry-leading UK manufacturer.
- Structured Working Environment: Supported directly by experienced team members—you won't be thrown in at the deep end without proper guidance.
- Benefits: Company pension scheme, provided PPE, and opportunities to develop further skills on-site.
