General Turner / CNC Turner – Night Shift

Client Overview
Our client is a well-established precision engineering business based in Staffordshire, producing high-quality machined components for a range of industries. Due to continued growth and workload, they are looking to add an experienced General Turner / CNC Turner to their night shift team.
This role would suit someone with strong CNC turning experience, particularly on Doosan Puma machines, who is confident setting, operating and producing precision components to tight tolerances.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes, working from engineering drawings, producing precision-machined components, and carrying out quality checks throughout production.
This is a night shift only position, so the ideal candidate must be comfortable working permanent nights.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate Doosan Puma CNC lathes.
- Carry out general CNC turning duties.
- Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Machine components to tight tolerances.
- Carry out tooling changes, offset adjustments and basic programme edits where required.
- Complete first-off and in-process inspection checks.
- Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, gauges and callipers.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments where needed.
- Ensure all work is completed to high quality standards.
- Keep the work area clean, safe and organised.
- Work efficiently as part of the night shift production team.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a CNC Turner, General Turner, CNC Lathe Setter Operator, Lathe Operator or CNC Machinist.
- Must have experience with Doosan Puma machines.
- Strong understanding of CNC turning, tooling, offsets, feeds and speeds.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Confident working to tight tolerances.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Able to work independently on night shift.
- Reliable, organised and quality-focused.
Desirable
- Fanuc controls experience.
- Experience editing programmes at the machine.
- Manual turning experience.
- Background in precision engineering or subcontract machining.
- Experience machining materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminium and specialist alloys
Pay: £51,000.00-£58,000.00 per year
