Supervisor – The Classroom Bistro and Bar, Nairn
About the Role
We're looking for a Supervisor to help run the floor at The Classroom Bistro and Bar. You'll be a steady, reliable presence during shifts — someone the team can turn to, and someone our customers enjoy having look after them. This is a hands-on role: you'll be on the floor, not just watching from the sidelines, helping keep things running smoothly while making sure everyone (staff and customers alike) has a good experience.
We're a close-knit team, and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us — there's real scope here to develop your skills and take on more responsibility over time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading shifts and keeping the team motivated, organised, and working well together
- Delegating tasks clearly so everyone knows what they're doing and why
- Keeping an eye on how service is running and stepping in early if something needs adjusting
- Giving staff honest, constructive feedback and helping them build their skills
- Making sure we're following health and safety standards, every shift, no exceptions
- Being the link between management and the team — passing on information clearly in both directions
- Helping with interviewing and onboarding when we're hiring
- Keeping basic records in order — rotas, attendance, that sort of thing
- Handling customer questions or concerns with a calm, friendly approach
- Pitching in on ideas to promote events, offers, or specials that bring people through the door
What We're Looking For
- Experience supervising or managing a team, ideally in hospitality or retail
- A natural leader — someone who brings people together rather than just giving orders
- Good organisational skills and the ability to juggle a few things at once without losing your cool
- Comfortable talking to people, whether it's a customer, a colleague, or a supplier on the phone
- Some background in a customer-facing or sales environment is a bonus
- Good time management — you get things done without cutting corners
- Comfortable with basic admin and keeping records straight
- An additional language is a nice-to-have, not a requirement
This is a genuinely rewarding role if you enjoy hospitality, like being part of a team, and want a workplace where your input actually matters. We're invested in helping you grow — whether that's building your leadership skills or working toward the next step in your career.
