Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods across various locations, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial driving and delivery operations. Applicants must hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence and have relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a walking floor trailer to transport goods to designated destinations in accordance with road safety regulations
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle inspections to ensure the lorry is in optimal condition
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency
- Secure cargo properly to prevent movement or damage during transit
- Complete all necessary documentation, including delivery notes and mileage logs accurately
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery times and any issues encountered during journeys
- Adhere strictly to legal driving hours and tachograph regulations
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the company's reputation during all interactions with clients and customers
Skills
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with walking floor experience although training can be given to right candidate.
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with no more than 6 points
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients, dispatchers, and team members
- Physically fit to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
