Halls of Cambridge Ltd are a well-established family run business, trading for over 30 years in and around Cambridge. We have built an excellent reputation as a leading master locksmith, also providing access control and glazing.
Our shop on Mill Road in Cambridge, provides simple and complex key cutting and lock repair services for both domestic and commercial customers.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Bench Locksmith Retail Assistant for our busy shop.
We provide a range of services, so a willingness to learn any required new skills will be essential. Key cutting, repairing old locks, building locks and cylinders, car key programming and repair are the main services we provide.
You will be supporting the shop manager and our on the road locksmiths by preparing locks and keys for onsite work, and researching parts to be ordered. You will also go on delivery runs taking completed orders to local customers using one of our company vehicles. You will help develop and maintain positive relationships with new and existing customers.
There may be times you need to work unsupervised, so being confident, organised and proactive is important. You must be an enthusiastic individual, who thrives on working in a busy environment and is keen to learn new skills.
We will aid in developing your skills in any area that you need or may wish to advance in. You will be expected to travel and attend training days when required, which may include overnight stays, covered by the company.
Typical workday:
- Greet our customers at the counter with a smart and professional manner, wearing branded uniform (provided)
- Key cutting, repairing old locks, building locks and cylinders, car key programming and repair
- Local van delivering of lock and key orders to our customers
- Keeping the shop clean and tidy
- Making and receiving phone calls to our customers, taking messages where necessary
- Cash handling and taking card payments
- Writing delivery notes for account customer invoices

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Overtime including rotating Saturday work, may be required once fully trained
- 8 hour days, 8:30am-5pm with 30mins for lunch
- Full time, Permanent
License/Certification:
- Driving License (essential)
Experience:
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (essential)
- Key Cutting: 1 years (essential)
- Retail Assistant: 1 years (preferred)

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
