Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and eager to gain experience in a dynamic kitchen environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining cleanliness, supporting food preparation, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables and preparing ingredients.
- Support the cooking team by ensuring all kitchen equipment and utensils are clean and ready for use.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and other cookware.
- Help with organisation and storage of ingredients and supplies to ensure efficient workflow.
- Support serving staff during busy periods by clearing tables and assisting with basic customer service duties when required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory management as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of restaurant or hotel operations is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude towards cleanliness and safety standards.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and customer service.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary.
- A positive approach to teamwork and excellent communication skills.
