Job Description: Support Worker for Young People

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to young individuals who may be facing various challenges in their lives. Your main objective will be to create a safe and nurturing environment where young people feel supported, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
1. Build trusting relationships with young people through active listening, empathy, and understanding.
2. Provide practical support, guidance, and advice to young individuals, assisting them in developing essential life skills.
3. Collaborate with a diverse team to develop and implement individual support plans, tailored to meet the unique needs of each young person.
4. Encourage and facilitate the engagement and participation of young people in community activities, education, employment, and training opportunities.
5. Organize and deliver group workshops and activities that promote personal development, resilience, and positive mental health.
6. Supervise and accompany young people during external activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided, progress, and any incidents or concerns, adhering to data protection and confidentiality policies.
Requirements:
- Health and social care NVQ Level 2/3.
- Right to work in the UK without any restriction
-Able to work up to 40 hours.
- At least 2 years of experience in supporting young people aged 16-25, ideally within a supported accommodation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to engage effectively with young individuals, their families, and external stakeholders.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by young people, such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the young individuals.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage your workload efficiently, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
- Proficiency in basic IT skills, such as using email, Microsoft Office, and maintaining electronic records.
Working hours:
- Day Shift 8:00 - 17:00
- Night Shift 17:00 - 8:00 (Sleeping rate of £50)
- Weekend Shift
