Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Operations Co-Ordinator to support the day to day delivery of surfacing and highways projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong scheduling, communication and operational planning skills who can work effectively in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
You will play a key role in co-ordinating operatives, plant, material and sub-contractor to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule. Working closely with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors, you will help maintain smooth operations while ensuring high standards or service and compliance are met at all times.
Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate daily surfacing operations across multiple sites.
- Schedule labour, plant, materials and transport requirements.
- Liaise with site supervisors, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Respond effectively to last minute operational changes and scheduling adjustments
- Assist the Operations Department to fulfil forward programme requirements (inclusive of plant and vehicles) ensuring any last minute changes are dealt with appropriately
- Order plant/ plant moves and add to daily programme, assigning to gangs to help with plant allocation
- Order forward programme materials and plant/plant moves, obtaining quotes and raising Purchase Orders accurately.
- Order fuel to ensure we have a continuous supply
- Raise and amend Purchase Orders as required
- Update the Environmental Programme monthly, monitoring energy used and waste, keeping records for business, tendering and PQQ purposes
- In line with monthly accounting timetable, allocate all materials to the correct jobs this should be done by raising and GRNing PO’s
- Update monthly stocktake spreadsheet to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained, costing materials to the appropriate job number and enter monthly stocktake on to job costing system
- Answer incoming telephone calls, dealing with any queries, determining customer requirements, and directing the call where appropriate
- Support the business with administration
- Log site audits, ensuring the required number are completed monthly
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an operations, scheduling or co-ordinating role, ideally within the surfacing, highways, construction or civil engineering sector
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external partners. This role is ideal for a proactive professional eager to contribute to a dynamic organisation by enhancing operational workflows through strategic coordination and innovative problem-solving.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the abiliity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment and respond too changing operational demands.
- Good knowledge of plant, labour and transport co-ordination.
- Competent in Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, clients and site teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in planning.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures with the construction industry.
Hours
Monday - Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm
Pay: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
