We're looking for a Trainee Quality Controller / PPF Pattern Designer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about cars, has an exceptional eye for detail, and wants to build a long-term career in the automotive industry.
No previous experience in PPF pattern design is required, we'll provide full training. What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to achieving the highest standards.
The Role
This is a varied position where you'll play a key role in ensuring every vehicle leaving our workshop meets Topaz's exacting standards. You'll also be trained to design, plot and cut Paint Protection Film (PPF) patterns for a wide range of vehicles.
Your Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Carry out detailed inspections of PPF installations.
- Check vehicles against Topaz quality standards before customer collection.
- Identify any imperfections and work with technicians to ensure they are rectified.
- Ensure every vehicle is presented to the highest possible standard.
PPF Pattern Design & Plotting
- Learn to create and modify PPF patterns using specialist software.
- Operate and maintain PPF plotters and cutting equipment.
- Test and refine patterns to achieve precise fitment with minimal material waste.
- Organise and maintain digital pattern libraries.
- Work closely with installers to continuously improve pattern quality and installation efficiency.
Workshop Support
- Follow workshop procedures and quality processes.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.
- Assist with stock management of PPF materials and consumables.
- Communicate effectively with the workshop team to ensure projects run smoothly.
Full Training Provided
You'll receive comprehensive training in:
- Topaz quality control procedures.
- Paint Protection Film inspection techniques.
- Pattern design and editing software.
- Plotter setup, calibration and maintenance.
- Vehicle-specific pattern development.
- Professional vehicle handling and presentation.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about cars and the automotive industry.

- Enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills.
- Comfortable using computers and technology.
- Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a close-knit team.
- A good communicator with a positive attitude.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in detailing, Quality control, vehicle wrapping, sign making, graphics or bodyshop work.
- Experience using CAD or vector design software.
