Location: Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire (GL52 7DG), with travel to Bristol as required
Salary: £43,000 - £53,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm, plus alternate Saturdays, 7:00am - 11:30am
About the Role
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading UK waste management and environmental services business for an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy fleet workshop based in Bishops Cleeve.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Workshop Manager or Senior HGV Technician looking to take the next step in their career. You'll lead a team of HGV Technicians and a Workshop Supervisor, ensuring the workshop operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards while maximising vehicle availability.
The role is primarily based in Bishops Cleeve, with occasional travel to the Bristol depot to provide additional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of HGV Technicians and a Workshop Supervisor
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the fleet workshop
- Oversee fleet maintenance using the R2C maintenance management system
- Manage LOLER inspections and ensure all statutory inspections are completed on time
- Ensure all vehicle maintenance documentation is completed accurately and remains legally compliant
- Maximise fleet availability by effectively planning maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime
- Allocate labour resources to achieve maximum workshop efficiency and productivity
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and health and safety
- Promote safe working practices and continuous improvement across the workshop
- Work closely with the Fleet Engineer to deliver operational objectives
About You
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience managing an HGV workshop or engineering team
- Experience supervising or leading HGV Technicians
- A current HGV Licence (minimum Class 2)
- Good knowledge of tachograph legislation
- City & Guilds HGV Parts 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Experience with vehicle compliance systems, including R2C and Operator Licence requirements
- Strong organisational and workload planning skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- A customer-focused approach with strong commercial awareness
- Willingness to travel to the Bristol depot when required
