About Dec-Elec
Dec-Elec Ltd is an established electrical and renewable energy contractor based in Aberdare. Due to the continued growth of our renewable energy division, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Solar PV and Battery Storage Electrician to join our team.
You will work on domestic and commercial installations across South Wales, alongside our roofing and installation teams.
The Role
You will be responsible for the electrical installation, testing and commissioning of Solar PV and battery storage systems.
As the lead electrician on site, you will take responsibility for the electrical and technical aspects of each installation. You will be expected to resolve any issues that arise and ensure all work is completed safely, correctly and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, connect, test and commission Solar PV and battery storage systems
- Complete all associated AC and DC electrical work
- Work closely with roofers, apprentices and other members of the installation team
- Take responsibility for electrical and technical matters on site
- Identify and resolve faults or installation issues
- Ensure installations comply with current electrical regulations, MCS requirements, manufacturer instructions and company procedures
- Complete test results, installation records, photographs and certification accurately
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, workmanship and site cleanliness
- Communicate professionally with customers while working in their homes or businesses
- Support apprentices and less-experienced members of the team where required
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or an equivalent qualification
- Current 18th Edition qualification
- A recognised Level 3 Solar PV installation qualification
- A recognised Electrical Energy Storage Systems qualification
- Previous experience installing, testing and commissioning Solar PV and battery storage systems
- Experience completing domestic electrical installations
- Strong testing, fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and take the lead on site
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A full UK driving licence
Additional Experience
The following would be beneficial:
- Inspection and Testing qualification
- Experience working on MCS-compliant installations
- Experience with commercial Solar PV and battery storage systems
- Manufacturer training covering common inverter and battery systems
