Browns ASR Limited is looking for a highly experienced Removals Manager/Operative and HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team based near Jedburgh.
The successful candidate will be employed primarily as an experienced removals professional, managing and carrying out domestic and commercial removals while remaining fully involved in the physical work.
This is also a combined driving role. You must be prepared to spend a significant amount of time supporting our general haulage operation, including tramping and regular nights away from home.
The balance between removals and haulage will vary according to operational requirements. Although removals will remain the primary focus, general haulage and tramping are substantial and essential parts of the position—not simply occasional cover.
A £30 overnight allowance will be paid for each night spent in the truck tramping.
Removals responsibilities:
- Manage domestic and commercial removal assignments.
- Lead removals crews and allocate work effectively.
- Remain hands-on and work alongside the crew.
- Plan and oversee the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Professionally pack and pack and protect furniture and customers’ belongings.
- Ensure all items are handled, secured and transported safely.
- Maintain excellent standards of customer service.
- Deal professionally with customers and resolve on-site issues.
- Complete the required removals paperwork.
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean, safe and secure.
General haulage responsibilities
- Undertake general haulage work as required by the business.
- Drive Class 2 HGV vehicles safely and professionally throughout the UK.
- Complete tramping assignments involving regular nights away.
- Supervise or assist with the safe loading and securing of goods.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
- Comply with drivers’ hours, tachograph and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Complete collection, delivery and transport paperwork accurately.
- Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and transport management.
Essential experience and requirements:
You must have:
- At least six years’ professional removals experience.
- At least two years’ professional Class C/Class 2 HGV driving experience.
- Experience leading a removals crew or managing removal assignments.
- A valid Category C or C+E HGV driving licence.
- A clean driving licence with no current penalty points or disqualifications.
- A current Driver CPC qualification.
- A valid digital tachograph card.
- Extensive experience packing, handling, loading and transporting furniture and customers’ belongings.
- Good knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachograph rules and road transport regulations.
- The willingness and flexibility to undertake substantial periods of general haulage work.
- The ability to undertake tramping and regular nights away from home.
- The ability to perform the lifting and manual-handling duties required by the role, with reasonable adjustments where applicable.
- The ability to satisfy appropriate background and employment checks, including the disclosure of unspent criminal convictions where legally required.
- The ability to commute reliably to our Jedburgh depot.
