Job Purpose
To provide a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the care home. The Housekeeper plays an important role in supporting residents' wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean resident bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, office, dining rooms, and other areas in accordance with cleaning schedules.
- Make beds, change linens, and replenish towels and toiletries as required.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, polish, and sanitise all designated areas.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Safely use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Dispose of waste and clinical waste appropriately, following infection prevention and control procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment promptly.
- Maintain adequate stocks of cleaning materials and report when supplies need replenishing.
- Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings while carrying out housekeeping duties.
- Support laundry services where required, including washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing residents' clothing and linens.
- Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure residents' rooms are cleaned at suitable times with minimal disruption.
- Follow all care home policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and infection prevention and control.
