We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Advisor to provide health, safety and environmental support and guidance across our Hinkley Point project activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, our management systems and client requirements. You will promote a positive safety culture, support the identification and control of workplace risks, and help implement effective HSE procedures and initiatives, working closely with site leadership and cross-functional project teams.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in one of the most important construction projects in the UK. We welcome applications from experienced HSE professionals, and this role can also be considered at entry level for a candidate who holds a NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC) and has some construction industry experience, and who is looking to build a career in HSE.
Location - Hinkley Point, Bridgwater
Work Rotation – 10/4 Rotation (starting on Tuesdays)
What You'll do
- Act as a key HSE point of contact for the project, providing advice, guidance and support to the project team and management
- Monitor compliance with company HSE management systems, client requirements and applicable legislation, identifying opportunities for improvement and escalating areas of concern
- Conduct site visits, inspections and audits to verify compliance, promote best practice and support continual improvement
- Support the identification, assessment and control of health, safety and environmental risks across project activities, including risk assessments and method statements
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented
- Prepare, maintain and report accurate HSE data, statistics and performance metrics in a timely manner
- Promote environmental compliance and support the implementation of environmental management requirements and initiatives
- Champion a positive HSE culture by engaging with employees and contractors, encouraging safe behaviours and proactive reporting
- Deliver HSE coaching, guidance and awareness sessions to support competency and understanding of HSE standards and procedures
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities to support compliance and project delivery
Skills & Experience
- A NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC) or equivalent recognised HSE qualification is essential
- Some experience within the construction industry - this role is open to candidates at entry level as well as those with existing HSE experience
- A good understanding of HSE legislation, site compliance requirements and industry best practice
- Willingness to build experience with heavy plant, lifting operations and large-scale mechanical equipment in a live construction environment
- Ability to support site inspections, audits and incident investigations, with a keen eye for detail
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate HSE records and documentation and engage confidently with project teams
